"Chi Psi wants not parts of men, but men of parts: A fraternity which while it welcomes brain and brawn, demands breeding as an absolute accompaniment to both; A fraternity, the cornerstone of whose edifice is character and genuine, straight forward, full-rounded manhood. Chi Psi chooses her men not merely for college days but for life."
The above quote by Franklin B. Hussey, X '82, is the driving force behind Rush with Chi Psi. Above all, a Chi Psi is first and foremost a Gentleman. A selective association of Diverse individuals, our fraternity is dedicated to the cultivation of a unique environment which instills a lifelong commitment to Brotherhood.
The mission of Chi Psi Fraternity is to create and maintain an enduring society which stimulates intellectual, ethical and social growth and encourages the sharing of traditions and values. In this pursuit, Chi Psi will encourage leadership, respect for oneself and others, and responsibility to the university and community.
What Is Rush?
Rush is the mutual selection process in which prospective members of fraternities and sororities are introduced to the Greek organizations on campus. During the Rush process, also known as Recruitment, you will be meeting many new people during non-alcoholic, conversational parties. Rush is held twice a year, in the Fall and the Spring and comes in two forms: Formal and Open. Formal Rush tends to be the most-likely choice because Rushees can meet all of the fraternities on campus and get a better feel for where they belong personally. Those who choose Open Rush usually already have an idea of what fraternity they want to be a part of. Rush lasts a week, during which time you meet all the fraternities and as the week progresses, you narrow your choices by choosing your top 9, 4, 2, and then your final choice of which fraternity you wish to be in. At this same time, the fraternities are narrowing their choices down of which rushees to invite back, making it a double-sided narrowing process.
Fall 2006 Formal Rush will begin AUGUST 20th - AUGUST 26th, the week before classes start.
Registration for the Fall 2006 Formal Rush has BEGUN! You can find out more information at the IFC website by going here.
Want To Be A Chi Psi?
New members are the backbone of Chi Psi. Because new members provide for the future of our brotherhood, recruitment and pledgeship is taken very seriously. The first step toward joining Chi Psi or any fraternity on the Texas Tech campus is to sign up for Rush. Rush can be done through both Formal and Informal (or Open) Rush. We would be more than happy to meet you and discuss Greek life at Texas Tech and why Chi Psi is the fraternity to be in. We would also like to have you at one of our parties or social events. For more information, either fill out our Rush Form or feel free to contact a Rush Chairman.
DON'T MISS OUT! Registration for Fall Formal Rush 2006 is NOW OPEN! Remember that there is a deadline to sign up before accruing late fees. If you are interested in joining a fraternity, visit the Tech IFC website to obtain the form you will need to register for Formal Rush.
Being part of a fraternity will bring you some of the best times of your life and will be an experience you will never forget. The life lessons you will learn will be with you in all your future endeavors.
